Today we talked briefly about the project for this chapter. I described an example but I did not work through it completely as we have not covered some of the necessary math yet. Then we worked on multiplying vectors by scalars. The key element was using a good scale for your original vector and measuring it with a ruler. Then all the other vectors could be drawn by using your scale to convert them into a length. We also used the other edge of the ruler to keep our lines parallel.

Assignment P. 322 # 1 - 5.

Here is the weekend related rates assignment. Worksheet.

Please hand it in on Monday.

Wednesday, March 24, 2010

Calculus, Mar 24th

Today we started related rates. We worked on basic problems, discussed taking implicit derivatives when they variable does not appear in the equation (with respect to time for example) and then looked at some problem types.
